WEEKLY UPDATES
WEEK 1
This week I wasn't really able to do anything. I had just got covid and had to miss the first three days of school. When coming back all I saw was the requirements for the robotics project. I had to wait until next week to be able to start planning, due to me having to catch up with all my work.
Week 2
This week I was able to start my planning and execution of the actual project. I first looked at all the requirements and deadlines. I saw that we needed certain things faster than others, so I worked out my schedule. I planned to do bits of the portfolio throughout the quarter.
The arm itself, I planned to look and do my research faster to be able to catch up. I of course plan to get a certain type of prototype in my head first, before trying to begin anything.
week 3
This week I was finally able to start doing my research and looking into the robot arm. I saw multiple videos on how to do the hand of the arm. This is due to me thinking that the hand of the arm will pretty much be my base and the rest should build from there.
I did my research on different parts of the robotic arm and how the hand itself worked. I was able to get a basic understanding of how my arm should look and work. I was able to start getting ideas and pick ones that would work and help make my first prototype.
week 4
This week I was able to start working on my portfolio and looked at some parts. I was able to finish my cover and index page. I was also able to start on most of my planning pages for the portfolio. Overall I was able to lay a foundation and doc for my portfolio.
I was able to also start putting some things together for my first prototype. I had a lot of things leftover from last year's project in engineering, so I decided to use some of the items to start building my prototype.
LEFTOVERS AND SOME PORTFOLIO PICTURES
WEEK 5
This week I started to make a plan on how to make the portfolio and how I will complete it. I wanted to make a schedule as to how I will complete it, so I wouldn't just do it on the last day. I have able to finish important sections of the portfolio. I predict that I will be able to complete all of it before the last quarter ends.
I have been able to start doing the prototype of my robotic hand. I decided to first try to build a prototype out of cardboard, but I soon found many problems with that. I decided to build it out of something tougher like styrofoam, which is the material used in the video I am using. I have started to build the system this week and will plan to finish next week.
PROTOTYPE
Week 6
This week I was able to start finishing up on the system that will make my robotic handwork. This system looked tough at first, but with the things, I was able to learn from the first year like breadboards. I was able to complete my system and start to test it. I was able to get some pretty good results at first.
Though the day after the system just stopped working. This led me to do a lot of research on exactly what was going on. I then was able to solve the problem by seeing the power source wasn't working. I then spent some time working with the portfolio and was able to complete more of it.
ME TESTING IT OUT- THERE ARE MORE VIDEOS ON THE GENERAL INFORMATION PAGE.
WEEK 7
This week I continued as always to work on the portfolio and arm. I wasn't able to work all week on the arm due to some real-life circumstances. Though I was finally able to finally make a successful system for my robotic hand. This led me to be a step close to finishing up my robotic arm.
I was also able to make better flex sensors to have a better acting and aesthetic arm. I was also able to start working on the styrofoam arm that will help control the ar.
THE SUCCESSFUl TESTING
WEEK 8
This week I was able to work on the robotic hand that is made out of styrofoam. I was also experiencing problems with the build on the arm, more specifically the wrist. The wrist was originally thought to be a hinge on the wrist, but I looked at other possibilities. The other possibilities included having an upside-down type of triangle on the wrist for it to bend.
The other thing I worked on was finalizing some sketches in my journal. I was able to draw out and annotate the schematics that represent the main system of the arm. I was able to work more on my portfolio and fix some mistakes that needed to be fixed.
SKETCHES I HAVE
week 9
This week was the end of the third quarter and I was able to turn in a draft of my portfolio. I also was informed of things that I needed to fix or were missing. I was able to spend most of my time being able to complete those missing parts. I have also started making my CAD in solid works.
I was also able to work on the arm that will be made of styrofoam. I was able to construct the fingers and the base of the arm. I was able to put the string that will be used on the arm through the fingers. Overall I have been able to finish the first model of my arm.
